Welcome Retro Spikey's SNES chronological reviews!
This is a humble but ambitious project, where I attempt here to review most -if not all - Super Nintendo games in chronological order. Why? I haven't got the foggiest idea, to be honest. The human mind has an odd tendency to develop sentimental attachment to happy times of the past, which we call 'nostalgia'. Playing 16-bit games of lost times invokes that honest '90s retro-feeling deep within me, and I'm ever so fond of it.
What is the Super Nintendo? Well, the 16-bit home console that was released in the 90s by Nintendo! Among its success factors were the games Nintendo developed itself, as well as now infamous contracting policies to try and hurt SEGA. In Japan, the SNES (or Super Famicom as it was called there) was released in late 1990. A USA release followed a year later and the Europe region got it as late as 1992. Playing these games in modern times can be cumbersome if you really want to hook up an old system; flatscreen TVs don't really like the old signals, the output could well look small and ugly (not as you remember them). Fortunately, there are better options these days, the keyword being emulation. I will likely put up an article on your best options here once this page progresses.
Without any further ado, here is the index. This is a work in progress of course, and I don't know if I'll ever actually finish. Bear in mind that I will put games in the year where they were first released, but will always review US or EU versions if they are available. Now you're playing with super power!
